Motorcycle Suspension Setup

Why Suspension Setup Matters

Your suspension is the connection between you and the road (or track).
Factory settings are a compromise — designed to suit a wide range of riders, not you.

By customising your setup, you’ll experience:

  • Sharper handling and corner stability
  • Improved traction and braking performance
  • Reduced fatigue and more predictable feedback
  • Increased rider confidence and control
  • Faster lap times or smoother road comfort

Even if your bike already has quality components, correct setup unlocks their full potential. A few millimetres of sag or clicks of damping can completely change the way your machine behaves.

Get Your Suspension Dialled for You — Not the Average Rider

No two riders are the same — and your motorcycle shouldn’t be set up like everyone else’s. Your suspension controls how your bike feels, grips, corners, and brakes. The right setup transforms confidence, feedback and traction, whether you ride the twisties on the weekend, commute daily, or chase lap times at the track.

At Darkart Motosport, we specialise in precision motorcycle suspension setup for road and race applications. Using the correct tools, data, and years of race-level experience, we’ll fine-tune your bike to suit your weight, ability, and riding style.

What’s Included in a Suspension Setup

Static & Rider Sag Measurement
We measure sag (the amount your suspension compresses under your weight) to ensure correct spring rates and preload. This forms the foundation of good handling.

Damping Adjustment
We balance rebound and compression damping to keep your tyres planted, responsive, and predictable — whether you’re braking hard or accelerating out of corners.

Front & Rear Balance
We assess your bike’s geometry and ride height to achieve the perfect front-to-rear balance. This ensures stability under braking and agile corner entry.

Rider Consultation
We’ll discuss your riding style, preferred feel, and environment (road, track, off-road). The setup will be dialled specifically for how and where you ride.

Optional Add-Ons

  • Trackside setup support
  • Data logging and feedback sessions
  • Re-valving or spring changes if needed

Who It’s For

  • Track riders chasing lap time consistency
  • Road riders wanting better comfort and control
  • Adventure riders needing confidence on mixed terrain
  • New bike owners wanting their setup personalised

Whether you’re a weekend rider or seasoned racer, getting your suspension professionally tuned will make your bike feel like a completely new machine.

FAQs

Do I really need a suspension setup if my bike is brand new?

Yes. Factory settings are designed for an average-weight rider, not for you personally. A setup ensures the bike handles correctly for your weight, gear and riding style.

How long does a suspension setup take?

A standard setup session usually takes about 1–1.5 hours. If we need to make spring or valving changes, it can take longer.

Do I need to bring my riding gear?

Yes, please bring your full riding kit — helmet, jacket, boots, etc. This ensures we measure your weight as you actually ride.

What brands of suspension can you adjust?

We work with all major brands — Öhlins, K-Tech, Matris, Nitron, Andreani, YSS and most OEM suspension systems.

Can you set up suspension for both road and track use?

Absolutely. We tailor your suspension to your riding environment — whether it’s road comfort, cornering stability, or race performance.

Will I feel a big difference?

In nearly all cases, yes. Riders often notice immediate improvements in confidence, stability and grip.

How often should I recheck my setup?

We recommend rechecking your setup once a year or after major changes — like tyre swaps, suspension servicing, or big weight changes (gear, luggage, etc.).

What Our Clients Say

Best suspension guy in the game. Leroy is the only man you should be getting advise from and getting your suspension serviced through. He really pulls out all the stops to ensure you get the best service and get the most out of your ride.

Luke Temple

Very good work. Have couple bikes that are completely different and different sized riders. Leroy helps you work through the problems by not changing to many things at once. Good steady progress leading to an excellent result. He even made Pukekohe smooth 🤣🤣

John Oliver

Leroy did a great job on the initial setup of my race bike, but the thing I really like about Leroy is how easy he is to talk to about the ongoing setup as I get faster .This has enabled me to get a better understanding of my suspension and I can now give him feedback on what my bike is doing.

Patrick Ansted

Top class guy, Leroy knows his stuff, very helpful with a professional background from BSB in UK. Don’t waste your time with dangerous so called Guru’s.

William Crosby

Love your work mate. Really helpful and always available. Well recommended. Thanks Leroy.

Fergus Maynes

Super kind and respectful. Leroy is a true man and got my bike to run for free very quickly. Definitely recommend this place.
